Royal Enfield is really turning up the heat with their new UCE engined creations all set to make a mighty impact on leisure motorcycling and touring in India. Royal Enfield showcased all their current Indian offerings at the 2010 Indian Auto Expo.

This time however, the Cast Iron and the AVL engines were replaced by the Unit Construction(UCE) engine platform that Royal Enfield intends to use in all of it’s upcoming motorcycle models. While the old Bulleteer bunch were in for a shock with the UCE engine used for the first time on the iconic Royal Enfield STD350, which has steadfastly featured the standard 350cc Cast Iron engine for more than 50 years now.
While, the classic Cast Iron engine is finally being laid to rest due to the emissions strangling it, we feel a twinge of sadness to see the legendary, long stroke 346cc cast iron engine being discontinued. That said, nothing is permanent in this ever changing world, and Royal Enfield has outfitted the STD350 with the UCE engine. This, in a bid to keep the model alive while managing to meet the stringent emission norms that the Bharat Stage IV norms lay down for all automobiles in India.
