The Can-Am Spyder Roadster is built by Bombardier Recreational Products the same people who make Jet Ski’s, Ski Doo’s and the Can-Am line of ATV’s. The Can-Am Spyder Roadster is their first vehicle designed exclusively for on road use and incorporates a completely new design. The Spyder Roadster features two wheels in front and one in the rear and is powered by a 990 V-Twin engine giving it a top speed of one hundred and ten miles an hour making a very fast toy.
nnovation is nothing new to the folks at Bombardier Recreational Products. BRP has a steep history in the motorcycle industry dating back to the early Can-Am brand that Jimmy Ellis raced in the U.S. National Motocross series in the early '70s. BRP is also the company that brings you Sea-Doo watercraft and reinvented the jet ski by introducing the first sit-down version. Then there are the Ski-Doo snowmobiles, which includes the top-selling sled in the world. Plus there's the Bombardier ATV line, which is now known as the Can-Am ATV line. Toss in a few more companies like Johnson and Evinrude motors along with Rotax, the Austrian-based engine firm, and you'll quickly see why BRP is known worldwide as a performance company with innovative ideas.
The three-wheeled Can-Am Spyder, with two wheels in the front and one in the rear, offers an alternative and attractive look. The Can-Am Spyder roadster is powered by a proven 990cc V Twin engine designed and manufactured by BRP-Rotax, with its unique Y-shaped design, the Can-Am Spyder roadster could be described as part motorcycle and part convertible sports car.
"Our Can-Am Spyder roadster is the next dimension in open-road riding. A true paradigm shift, the Spyder roadster offers a balance of performance and peace of mind with features like the Vehicle Stability System (VSS), engineered in conjunction with Bosch, which includes anti-lock brakes, traction control and stability control systems," said José Boisjoli, president and CEO, BRP.
The Can-Am Spyder is aimed at more mature riders or "weekend warriors," people who want the thrill of open air motoring at a more intense level than a convertible car can offer, but slightly more refined than the experience found on a motorbike.
However there will probably be a lot of other people who are attracted to the Can-Am Spyder because of its unique character and head-turning design.
